Resensi : Negeri 5 Menara

            Negeri 5 Menara is the firs book from a trilogy, writen by a famous author, that is Ahmad Fuadi. This book was launched in 2010. This inspiratif book consist of struggle of life of the actors. And do you know readers? The story is based on the author’s experiences in the past.

            The main actor is Alif. A boy from a small village in Bukit Tinggi , Sumatra, who wanted to continue his study in the best senior high school there. Unfortunately, Alif didn’t get permit from his parents. They are poor family, so, they didn’t have enough money to send Alif to that school. Alif’s parents asked him to continue his study in islamic school.Alif disagreed with this decision. But, he couldn’t do anything. So he had to throw his dream to study in Bukit Tinggi Senior High School.

            Madani Boarding school, which located in Ponorogo, East Java were Alif’s school now. Formally, he didn’t feel comfortable to study there. There are so many rules which should be obeyed by the students. If they didn’t obey the rules, they would get punishments. But, luckily Alif meet amazing friends. They were Said, Raja, Baso, Atang and Dulmajid. Alif’s new friends were idealist. They had dreams and wanted to reach them. Although, there would be so many challenges there. The spirit of “MAN JADDA WA JADDA” always remembered in their brains.

            Sohibul Menara (the nick name of alif and Friends) were always together to do most of their activities. They looked like a family. One day, Baso had a problem. He couldn’t continue his study in Madani because his grand mother was sick and Baso is the only family she had. He had to go home to accompany his grandma.It made another Sohibul Menara sad. Baso gave advice to his friends to don’t be desperate to reach their dreams, and Baso would continue to reach his dreams in his village.

            Finally, after 4 years, they faced final exam for the highest level in Madani. They studied hard for it. They studied all of the materials, memorizing hadits all nights. Alhamdulillah, they could graduate from Madani with good mark.

            The story of this novel is very good. The struggle of the actors to reach their dream can motivate the reader. By reading this novel, readers can feel the spirit of the actors when studying and solving their problems. It also tells about friendship. A good friend is a friend who always helps his/her friends when facing problem. 

            For all of novel lovers, I recommend this book to be your collection. The content is very interesting. Especially for teenagers, you should read this novel.
